About Thatch
Thatch is a project in active early-stage development — a planned distributed AI inference cloud, designed and operated from Aotearoa New Zealand. At the time of writing, Thatch is not yet a registered legal entity. The project is being progressed by individuals working under the Agentic Intelligence umbrella, based in Christchurch.
A New Zealand legal entity will be established before commercial launch. This privacy notice will be updated to reflect that entity and any associated changes at that time.
Until then, “Thatch”, “we”, “us” and “our” in this notice refer to the people working on the Thatch project. Questions can be sent to hello@thatch.cloud.
What this notice covers
This notice explains how we handle personal information collected through the Thatch website at thatch.cloud. It applies to anyone who visits the site or submits the contact form. There is no Thatch product, customer dashboard, or login system at this stage; this notice is therefore limited to website-related data.
Compliance
We aim to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles. Although Thatch is not yet incorporated, we treat any personal information shared with us as if those obligations applied in full.
Information we collect
We only collect information you give us, plus a small amount of standard technical information generated when you visit the site.
Information you give us — the contact form
If you submit the “Talk to us” form on the website, we receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your organisation (optional)
- The category you select to describe your interest (e.g. AI inference customer, network or infrastructure partner, site host, investor, supplier, or “something else”)
- Any free-text message you choose to send us
You don’t need to fill out the form to use the site. If you do, you’re telling us you’d like us to get in touch.
Information collected automatically
When you visit any page of thatch.cloud, the following information is generated automatically:
- Your IP address and approximate location (country / region)
- Browser type, operating system, device class, and viewport size
- The page URL you requested and the page that referred you
- The date and time of the request
- Cookie identifiers set by the analytics and advertising tools listed below
This is the standard set of information any modern website receives in order to load and to improve.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses a small number of third-party cookies and tracking pixels. We load and manage them through Google Tag Manager:
- Google Analytics 4 — measures pages visited, referral sources, time on site, device type, and approximate location, so we can understand how the site is being used. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag — sets cookies that allow us to measure visits from LinkedIn campaigns and, if we run advertising in future, to show ads to people who have visited the site. No advertising is currently running.
You can opt out of all of the above by using your browser’s “block third-party cookies” setting, by using a privacy-respecting browser extension (such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger), or by opting out via Google’s and LinkedIn’s own settings:
How we use the information
We use the information we collect for a small number of clearly-bounded purposes:
- To respond to enquiries you send us through the contact form.
- To follow up on relationships with potential customers, partners, and site hosts as Thatch progresses toward launch.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the website is being used so we can improve it.
- To keep the website operating securely (rate limiting, abuse detection, edge caching).
- To meet any legal obligation that applies to us.
We do not sell personal information to anyone, ever. We do not use information collected through the website to train AI models.
How we share information
The information you provide is shared only with the third-party service providers that operate parts of the website on our behalf. They are listed below, alongside what they receive and where they are based.
- Basin (forms backend) — receives the contents of the contact form when you submit it and forwards it to the people working on Thatch. Hosted in the United States. Basin privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (hosting and delivery) — receives requests for the website, including your IP address, in order to serve pages and protect against abuse. Operates a global network. Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Fonts) — sets the analytics cookies described above and serves the typefaces used on the site. Google logs IP addresses briefly when fonts are loaded. Based in the United States. Google privacy policy.
- LinkedIn (Insight Tag) — sets the retargeting cookies described above and provides aggregate visit data back to us inside LinkedIn Campaign Manager. Based in the United States and Ireland. LinkedIn privacy policy.
We may also share information if we are legally required to do so (for example, in response to a lawful request from a regulator or court), or if Thatch is acquired or merged in future, in which case the recipient will be bound by the same obligations as us.
Where information is processed
Some of the providers above are based outside New Zealand, primarily in the United States. By using this website or submitting the contact form, you understand that your information may be processed in those countries. We choose providers we believe operate to comparable standards of security and privacy.
How long we keep information
- Contact form submissions — kept for as long as the conversation is active and useful, and for a reasonable period afterwards while Thatch is in pre-launch development. We will review and prune older submissions periodically.
- Analytics data — Google Analytics 4 retains user-level and event-level data for the period we configure (currently 14 months) and aggregate reports indefinitely.
- Cookies — expire according to each provider’s settings. Most analytics and advertising cookies expire within 1–2 years if the browser is not cleared earlier.
- Server and edge logs — kept by Cloudflare for short periods (typically days to weeks) for security and diagnostic purposes.
How we keep information safe
The website is served over HTTPS only. Form submissions and analytics traffic are sent over encrypted connections. We rely on the security practices of the providers listed above to protect data once it leaves your browser. Access to form submissions is limited to people directly working on Thatch.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Ask whether we hold personal information about you.
- Ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thatch.cloud with enough detail for us to identify the information you mean. We will respond within 20 working days.
If you’re not satisfied with our response you can contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz.
Children
Thatch is a business-to-business project. The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it.
Links to other websites
The site links to a small number of external sites (for example, the privacy policies of our service providers above). Those sites are governed by their own privacy notices, not this one.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice as Thatch progresses toward launch — particularly when a legal entity is established and when product features that collect additional information are introduced. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any such change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
